Morning Breath is Doug Cunningham and Jason Noto. The two began working together in 1996 as the in-house design department at Think Skateboards in San Francisco, where they developed a shared visual language and collaborative approach that continues to define their work today.
In 2002, Cunningham and Noto formalized their partnership with the founding of Morning Breath, Inc., a boutique design studio based in Brooklyn, New York. What began with roots in skateboarding culture quickly expanded into a multidisciplinary practice spanning music packaging, apparel, advertising, and poster design, along with an extensive body of personal and gallery work.
Over the years, Morning Breath has created work for a wide range of influential clients across music, fashion, and global brands, including Adidas, Vans, MTV, Pepsi, and artists such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Slayer. Their output—spanning album packaging, graphics, and brand collaborations—has made a lasting mark on contemporary pop culture.
In 2017, they released By the Skin of Our Teeth: The Art and Design of Morning Breath, a comprehensive monograph published by HarperCollins that chronicles their work and creative evolution.
Today, Cunningham and Noto continue to divide their time between commercial and personal projects. Over the past two decades, they have earned a Grammy Award for Best Recording Package (2021), been featured in numerous design publications, and have been invited to speak about and present their work internationally.
